Hand it to the monitor October 1st 2009 Vibrations can be a major cause of
injuries to people and damage to
equipment. Prolonged exposure to
hand and arm vibration can lead to
'white finger', numbness in hands and
arms, or even carpal tunnel
syndrome.
Vibration measurements for
assessment can be time consuming
and complicated. To help solve this
problem, CVK has developed
products to make simple, cost
effective and reliable measurements
of vibration and its effect on humans.
Available through Campbell
Associates, HealthVib HAV has a
vibration transducer built into a
safety glove for hand arm vibration
assessment. It makes a quick, simple
measurement of hand and arm
vibration in compliance with the
requirements of ISO 5349.
Also from CVK, the HealthVib
human vibration dosimeter measures
whole body vibrations (WBV) in
three directions. The system
measures and analyses the WBV that
operators of mechanical equipment
are subjected to while seated, as
required by ISO 2631-1 and EU
directive 2002/44/EG. Easy to use and
requiring little training, the unit does
not require cables, software or any
special configurations. |
