March 1st 2011 3M has launched an enhanced
version of its DECT-Com
Communication System to offer
users increased functionality and
excellent sound quality. The 3M
Peltor DECT-Com II Wireless
Intercom System has all of the
benefits of the original system, which
is said to provide an outstanding
communication solution for noisy
environments. Comprising a base
unit, handsets and headsets, which
are connected wirelessly, the duplex
system allows users to be involved in
clear two-way communication, or
conference calls, with no
interruptions to transmission.
The system can be set up for up to
nine individual active users; up to 40
additional listeners can participate in
the conference. Each operator has a
handset, connected to a headset with
built-in speakers and a microphone,
to receive/send out communications.
Listeners can 'break in' and
participate in the conference, which
will downgrade the earliest active
speaker, on a first come, first served
basis, meaning everyone in the
