Quick gearbox solution May 1st 2010 When an Irish company in Donegal
discovered a problem with its wind
turbine gearbox, Hansen
Transmissions in the UK were quick
to react. Hansen was called in to
inspect the gearbox inside the
nacelle. The engineer diagnosed the
problem and recommended that
tooling be made specifically in order
to change the bearing without
having to remove the gearbox.
Hansen Transmissions are
accredited to the BSI OHSAS
18001:2007 safety standard. All their
service engineers are trained to work
at heights and are trained to the
IOSH managing safely standards.
Following the report, a risk
assessment and method statement
was prepared prior to the return
visit. The gearbox fault was rectified
in a very short space of time, with
limited inconvenience. To receive a
