On the cards
August 1st 2009

T Cards Direct's maintenance planning boards used at Tarmac Aggregate sites throughout the UK are enabling staff to keep on top of urgent and nonurgent repairs, improving plant efficiency and helping reduce safety incidents.

At Tarmac's Greenwich Wharf, it s expected that within the first 12 months financial gains of over £100,000 will be made through less downtime and improved performance.

One person in each 'zone' is responsible for flagging any safety/ maintenance issues, prioritising these in terms of safety and impact on plant operation. This is done by completing a T Cards incident card and placing it in the appropriate column on the Maintenance Defect boards.

At Tarmac, red T Cards indicate urgent action; cream cards are used for alerts for non-urgent action.
